ROTARY IMPACT
Some analysts have found that world poverty has
diminished by half since Rotary was founded hundred years ago: www.thrap.net/world.htm
Such a reduction never happened before in world
history. Obviously other factors than Rotary have contributed.
Alain Peyrefitte, the well-known French author has
found that Protestants have been
outstanding in changing the world for the better:
"Here thus one of the
greatest enigmas of the history. Why this irresistible rise, starting from the XVII century in some
countries? These nation-engines represent a very small fraction of humanity;
and the three hundred last years represent a negligible fraction of the history
of man since his appearance some three or four million years ago.
However, this small group of Protestant
countries made leave humanity the way where it walked on since always,
ahead thorough by its fruitfulness, decimated periodically by the misery to
which this push itself condemned it. It made it escape from this terrifying
biological balance, where the epidemics, the famines and the wars periodically

Last but not least the protestant Paul Harris founded
ROTARY INTERNATIONAL in 1905 and set as one of the objects "FRIENDSHIP
ACROSS BORDERS". One century later there are 20.000 Rotary clubs and
1.200.000 Rotarians in the world. No doubt these Rotarians have contributed to
the transfer of technology and outsourcing that has helped to cut poverty by
half. However number of Rotarians per 1000 inhabitants (Rotary density) varies from

Considering the big gap between the "good"
countries and the "bad" there seems to be great possibilities to increase
world density two or three-fold. The mere fact to get more Rotarians around could
be considered as a catalyst and a vaccine against terrorism.

Une telle réduction ne s'est jamais produite avant dans l'histoire de l’humanité.
Évidemment d'autres facteurs que le ROTARY y ont
contribué.
Alain Peyrefitte, l'auteur français bien connu a constaté que les
protestants ont été performants en
changeant le monde pour le meilleur :
Voilà donc une des
plus grandes énigmes de l'histoire. Pourquoi cet essor irrésistible, qui
soulève, à partir du début du XVII siècle, certains pays'? Ces quelques
nations-locomotives représentent une très faible fraction de l'humanité; et les
trois cents dernières années représentent une infime fraction de l'histoire de
l'homme, depuis son apparition sur la terre voici quelque trois ou quatre
millions d'années. Or, ce petit peloton de pays de culture
protestante a fait sortir l'humanité de la voie où elle cheminait depuis

Enfin le ROTARY INTERNATIONAL fondé par le protestant Paul Harris en 1905 a comme un de ses objectifs

FRONTIÈRES". Un siècle plus tard il
y a 20.000 Rotary-clubs et 1.200.000
Rotariens dans le monde. Sans aucun doute ces Rotariens ont contribué au
transfert du savoir faire et de la délocalisation qui a aidé à réduire de moitié la pauvreté dans le monde.

Vu le grand écart entre les "bons" pays et les
"mauvais" il semble y avoir de grandes possibilités d’augmenter la
densité (doubler ou même tripler). Le
seul fait d’avoir plus de Rotariens dans le monde peut servir de catalyseur ou
comme un vaccin contre le terrorisme.
